Roisin M McMahon
I am a structural biologist who uses crystallographic approaches to structure-function investigations of proteins, with a complementary interest in structure based drug discovery. My current research focus is the characterisation of virulence mediators in the pathogens Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Burkholderia pseudomallei as potential antimicrobial targets.
I was awarded a DPhil in 2010 from the University of Oxford in structural immunology for work investigating the role of immune proteins in susceptibility to autoimmune disease. I moved to the Institute for Molecular Bioscience, University of Queensland Australia in 2012 to work with Prof. Jenny Martin in the area of macromolecular crystallography and fragment based drug discovery.
